Hi, My name is Jodie, and just like many women visiting this page I to suffer from PCOS. I created Momentous as a home for women looking to treat there PCOS symptoms using diet and exercise. To help with this, I have created a table of contents full of PCOS friendly recipes along with a place to request your favourites to alter them in the PCOS way. All recipes are gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free and low carb to help reduce the symptoms of PCOS and more importantly give you back your control.

In 2008 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and it is a diagnosis I have been struggling with ever since. The only advice given by my doctor at the time was “Your symptoms will improve if you lose weight” It sounded easy at the time. Still, little did I know that for the next 11 years that this would be an impossible task, and the bigger I got, the worse my symptoms become. After some time, my symptoms became worse no consisting of:

  • Irregular Periods
  • Heavy Bleeding and Cramps
  • Acne
  • Excessive Hair Growth
  • Weight Gain
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Irregular Hormones
  • Low self-esteem
  • Lack of self-love
  • Depressions
  • Anxiety

Further treatment of these symptoms includes Metformin, Levlen ED, and Endep. You soon start to believe that they are the only solution that will help and while they did do what they were designed to do the once symptom that no medication could ever treat was my struggle to lose weight. I mean, how can you when every fibre in your body is fighting against you. In the end, it starts to drive you in the direction of you willing to try anything to make it better.

I tried everything from crash dieting, calorie counts, starvation, over-exercising all to result in losing only a few kilos then later putting twice as much back on call because your lead to believe that the above are your only choices.

In 2019 this all changes. After falling back into depression, I had put on almost another 10kg in just two months. I stood on the scale to see a total of 169kg flash up on the screen, knowing that if i had any more than the scale would no long ready my weight. I pleaded with my doctor telling her I would do anything to loose weight. Alas, she had no further advice to give. So who do you turn to when you feel everyone and everything you have tried fails you?

It was there I found the 30 Day PCOS Diet Challenge. I remember coming across the 30 Day PCOS Diet Challenge early March. When I signed up I was behind a week, so I decided against continuing until the following month.

After looking into it more, I discovered the PCOS Diet Facebook Support Group. After being accepted, I spoke to a variety of women who advise that starting the challenge would be the best way to go. Alongside sending me a list of food that was edible. Looking at this list, I honestly didn’t think the transition would be to difficult as I had cut a lot of what I wasn’t allowed to eat out of my diet due to it triggering my acid reflux. An so on November 3rd, 2019, I began my weight loss journey, and Momentous PCOS was born.

Now your probably thinking this is some sales pitch to get you to sign up to the program. The truth is it’s not even my program. What your seeing is not just a girl and her weight loss journey, but a passion of self-discovery. Where she faces her PCOS, her low self-esteem, and her hatred for herself all because of a condition that she had no control over. Don’t do this to yourself ladies, not if you don’t have to.

As of April 1st, I had officially lost 20kg by following this PCOS Friendly lifestyle. More about my results here!
